Privacy policy
Last updated: November 6, 2026 · Applies to the Android app "Self Call".
Self Call works entirely on your device. It has no server, no accounts, and sends nothing over the internet.
How your data is handled
No real calls, no charges
Simulated calls are created locally through Android's call system. The app never places or receives real phone calls and never interacts with your SIM card, carrier, or billing plan. It even works in Airplane mode.
No tracking
The app contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no crash reporting. Nothing about you or your usage is collected or transmitted.
What the app stores
Caller profiles, scheduled and recent calls, recorded audio messages, a prepared call, and your settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage that no other app can read. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
Your contacts
Contacts are read only when you open the contact picker, and only the contact you select is saved (name, number, photo) as a caller profile, on your device, never anywhere else.
Bug reports
Reporting a bug opens your own email app with a message you write yourself. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.
Purchases
The full version is an optional one-time purchase processed by Google Play under Google's own terms and privacy policy. Self Call only receives a confirmation that the purchase exists; it never sees your payment details.
Permissions the app requests
Every permission exists for a single visible feature, is optional unless noted, and is used only on your device:
- Phone account / phone status: registers Self Call as a calling account so simulated calls can appear on Android's real incoming-call screen. Required for the app to work.
- Contacts: lets you pick a contact as the caller for a simulated call.
- Microphone: records audio messages you attach to simulated calls; accessed only while you are recording.
- Music & audio (photos, media and files on older Android versions): lists your audio files when you attach one to a simulated call. Only audio files are read.
- Alarms & reminders: makes scheduled calls ring at the exact time you chose.
- Do Not Disturb access: allows the "Silent" ring mode to mute the ringer for a single simulated call, restoring it afterwards.
- Notifications and a foreground service: shows the "Prepared call gesture active" notification while the power-button gesture is armed, and the system call notification during a simulated call.
No permission is ever used to collect, transmit, or share data.
This website
selfcall.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the demo video is loaded from YouTube only after you tap play; those services may log the request under their own privacy policies.
Children
Self Call does not collect data from anyone, including children, and contains no ads.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date revised before the change ships.
